Established in 1888 by a group of people from Pamplona, it was the first such establishment with electric lighting. “It opened to the public on the eve of the San Fermin festival and was filled to overflowing” according to the chronicles of the time, and it has been the same every year since then, becoming a meeting place for the people of Pamplona and for those foreigners looking to find the place made famous throughout the world by the writer Ernest Hemingway. |
